Special Events

We have held five annual SOUPerBOWL Sunday lunch Events with entry being a Wal Mart gift card in any amount. We donate these cards to Child Protective Services who distributes as needed to kinship families who do not receive any funding from the county. This event has generated over $9,000 given directly back to kinship families in need!

Relative placement or kinship care is when an aunt, uncle, grandparent or other relative brings a child into their home avoiding foster placement. This can be incredibly difficult financially, especially on those with fixed incomes.

We held our first annual event March 2023 in which a little over 100 women attended. We will be holding our second annual event March 23,2024 at The Isles, and expect over 150 women.

Stand Sunday is an annual awareness event in November where churches nationwide dedicate an entire morning to standing together for foster care. Just One has held five of these events with multiple agencies/organizations including Brunswick County Child Protective Services, Guardian Ad Litem, and local Non profits dedicated to serving vulnerable children and families. Past guest speakers include former foster youth, Department of Social Service representatives, foster parents (including our own pastors) and our Just One founder.

We host a quarterly parent’s night out for foster parents, kinship care, adoptive parents, and those reunified with their children as a way to provide support. We serve dinner, play games, and make a craft!

One parent said after the event, “Our kids have not stopped asking when the next one is and keep asking if we are going. It feels like they need a kids night out, too!”
